Starting today, you can register a .cat for two years for the price of a one-year registration, which at A rates will cost you $13.00.
The promo is valid until the end of 2014.
Note: anyone can register a .CAT, but you must publish a website in the Catalan language within 6 months of registering the domain name. For more info, see the .cat info page.
The first one to enter GoLive is .engineer, which will become available for purchase by all at normal prices on 19 November 2014 at 9am PDT (16:00 UTC).
.auction and .software will enter GoLive on 10 December, also at 9am PDT (16:00 UTC).
The west coast always comes first, which is why Los Angeles has had .la for a very long time. But now the East Coast is catching up, with .nyc!
There are, of course, a few obvious businesses that should definitely focus on getting a .nyc. Bagel makers, pizza joints, and the odd deli now have a unique opportunity to remind everybody who has the best stuff in the Big Apple.
.NYC is reserved to individuals, organizations and businesses having an address in one of the five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island), and it's entering GoLive today, Wednesday 8 October, 2014.
.nyc will cost $38.34 for a one-year registration at A rates.
The .nz namespace, previously restricted to third-level domains such as those ending in .co.nz, .net.nz, .org.nz, .ac.nz, etc, is being opened up to registrations of second-level .nz domains.
Holders of a third-level .nz domain name (e.g. a domain ending with .co.nz, .net.nz or .org.nz) have a Preferential Registration Eligibility (PRE), meaning you might be able to register the corresponding .nz domain name before anyone else. See below for details.
If there are no preexisting restrictions on a second level domain:
Names without corresponding co.nz, .net.nz or .org.nz names will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Holders of a third-level .nz domain name:
Depending on when your .nz domain name was registered, and if there are any other examples of your name in the .nz domain space, you'll be further classified as having either:
Preferential Registration or Reservation (PRR), which makes you eligible to register or reserve the shorter version of your domain name. This must be done within six months of the GoLive date. Reserving a domain name has no cost.
Conflicted status, which means your name has been registered in at least two second levels and so its registration at the second level needs to go through a conflict process. An example of this is one Registrant having example.org.nz and another, different Registrant having example.ac.nz.
For the moment, domains with such restrictions will appear as "not available" on our website, as we have not yet implemented the ability to register them. We're working on it and this option should be available soon (note, as mentioned above, that the domain will be reserved to you for six months).
You can check if priority restrictions exist on a given domain using the Registry's online tool at anyname.nz.
.nz domains will cost $24.00 for a one-year registration. For more information, see the Registry's FAQ.
The Sunrise phase begins Tuesday, 30 September at 9am PDT (16:00 UTC).
Remember, the Sunrise phase is for TMCH-registered trademark holders. Contact our corporate support team if you have a TMCH-registered trademark (or would like help registering your existing trademark at TMCH) in order to register one of these new gTLDs during Sunrise.
About the Landrush phase:
If you want to be absolutely sure to get your desired domain, you can register it during Landrush at a higher price (see above). The Landrush phase ends on Wednesday, 10 December at 8am PDT (15:00 UTC).
About the GoLive phase:
The GoLive phase for these four new gTLDs begins on Wednesday, 10 December, 2014, at 8am PDT(15:00 UTC).
Note: You don't need to wait until GoLive begins to register your domain: we strongly encourage you to pre-register now. We will then submit the order on your behalf at the earliest possible moment, in the order they are received. As always, if the registration is not successful, we will automatically refund your prepaid account (and will refund to your external funding source upon request).
As Oktoberfest enters full swing, .beer is getting ready to make its appearance, joined by .surf.
There is no Landrush phase for these TLDs, so we strongly encourage you to preregister now, before they enter the Golive phase this Thursday, 25 September, at 9am PDT (16:00 UTC).
The Golive price of a one-year registration at A rates will be $38.34 for either of these new gTLDs.
