Excuse us, hairball.

As we were saying, we were hoping you would feel tickled by our 90%-off promotion until the end of teh yer—err … the year—but please try to hold in your laughs (and we'll hold in our lolcats) while we explain:

This is an extension not just for lolcats, but for all kinds of cats (but especially those who like to laugh. Out loud, that is).

And with the promotion until the end of the year, you can get one of these domains for just $4.14 for a one-year registration at A rates (normally $41.41).

U can stop holdin in ur laffs nao and registr a .lol domain todai.

Alright, alright. Ridiculous promotion for .lol. We're sure you don't think we couldn't possibly be serious, we're just playing off the gTLD to make a dumb joke.

But we are dead serious about this. As .lol enters the GoLive phase on August 11 (at exactly 9:00 am PDT), it will also be for sale for 90% off. Meaning normally a .lol domain that costs $41.41 for a one year at A rates will be available for $4.14 (also at A rates of course). No joke. Get ready!

Laugh all you want at .lol, the new extension entering the Sunrise phase, but in all seriousness, we're concerned about this one. Here are some quick worrying statistics:

FACT: Literally dozens of people are run over by lollerskates each year.

FACT: The controversial US Air Force roflcopter program, before it was shutdown, cost taxpayers millions of cents per year.

FACT: The stray lolcat population since 2006 has exponentially increased, threatening native species such as the endangered jk-sparrow and btw-breasted seagull.

While the introduction of .lol to the sphere of gTLDs does not directly threaten to reproduce these sobering results, we feel it is our duty to warn against the potentially hazardous side-effects of this three-letter acronym.

Okay now that you've been warned, we can tell you that if you want to forego the risks (and have a trademark), you can register one in the Sunrise phase for $334.98 a year at A rates. Otherwise, laugh on the inside only until August 11 when .lol enters the GoLive phase and you can purchase one without a trademark for one year for $20.87 at A rates.

Remember, the Sunrise phase is on a first-come, first-served basis and is for TMCH-registered trademark holders. Contact our corporate support team if you have a TMCH-registered trademark (or would like help registering your existing trademark at TMCH) in order to register one of these new gTLDs during Sunrise. If you are not among the trademarked, you can still pre-register for the GoLive phase. We'll submit your order at the earliest possible moment – as soon as your chosen phase begins – for the best chance of success.
