It's always with great remorse that we make this type of announcement but effective 23 January 2017, in order to comply with our contractual obligations, we have increased registration and renewal prices on 76 TLDs, on all price grids.
The reason for the price increase largely has to do with the fact that we pay most new gTLDs in US Dollars and exchange rates have recently fluctuated such that we were compelled to increase rates on affected TLDs.
Generally, we don't adjust our prices based on minor exchange rate fluctuations, however the variations this time were too significant to be able to avoid adjusting our rates. So it's out of necessity that we are notifying you of the following new rates on the following TLDs:
Taxes are not included in the above prices, which unless otherwise indicated, apply both to renewals and creations.
Besides the TLDs listed above, the following TLDs are also impacted, though only in grids B through E:
.asia, .org, .ag, .tv, .tel, .ws, .mobi:
One last TLD, .biz, is also impacted but only on Grid E. The prices for all operations have been increased by 10%.
Today, May 3rd, is World Press Freedom Day, an international celebration created and organized by the United Nations.
Each year, there’s a theme, and this year’s theme is one we can especially get behind. Of course, being the UN it’s not as short and snappy as we’d like, but “Freedom of Information and Sustainable Development, Protecting press freedom from censorship and surveillance overreach and Ensuring safety of journalists online and offline,” is certainly something we care about at least as much as freedom of the press in general. The freedom of information and the independence of the press are two things we think are necessary in the kind of world we want to help build.
This month, to participate in the celebrations we're offering a promotion on .press domains. From May 3, 2016 until June 3, 2016, domains in the .press TLD will be available for $5.00 per year each (They normally go for $94.97 per year at A rates). So do your part to promote freedom of the press with a .press domain this month.

Starting in the month of October and lasting until January 15, 2016, domains in the .press extension will be available for $19.90 (normally $94.97) for the first year at A rates and .host domains will be available for $17.99 (normally $124.93) for the first year at A rates.
Despite reports to the contrary, print media is not dead. It just had a near-death experience, went on a spirit quest, and found itself. And like most who go through this kind of soul-searching, it's come back more interesting than ever.
Take, for example, last weekend's Steamroller Printing Festival when a 1924 Buffalo-Springfield Coal Powered Steamroller was used as a printing .press.
And the .press in general isn't dead either. In fact, it's never been more alive. The Internet has now made it possible for anyone to become a citizen-journalist; no steamroller printing .press required.
Well, there's no better extension, then, for the new journalists than .press itself.
If you're more in the hosting game (and we don't just mean your wicked Halloween parties), a promotion on .host starting this month. Whether you're a developer hosting your latest .site or if you are exclusively a hosting provider, this deal is for you.
